Are you in need of blessings from God? Maybe you have a material need. You might be wondering where your next meal will come from. On the other hand, you could be in need of a spiritual blessing, such as deliverance from addiction. Whatever your need may be, one thing is for sure, God takes care of His children and blesses them. As 2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

In this post, I want to share with you 5 key points about blessings from God that can be found in 2 Corinthians 9:8.

1. God’s Blessings Are Unmerited

-First of all, you can’t earn God’s blessings. It’s not about being good enough. Blessings from God are a gift from God. Honestly, there’s nothing you can do to merit God’s favor. God gives out of His loving-kindness.

In fact, that’s what the word grace means. Out of His loving-kindness, God extends unmerited favor to those who love and obey Him. In other words, he provides for His children. James 1:17 tells us that “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no changing or shifting shadow.”

What does He provide? He provides salvation, deliverance, guidance, and protection. Also, he provides for your daily physical needs, as well. For example, a woman’s car was beyond repair. She needed a new one to go to work, so she prayed. Without telling anyone about her need, she went to church that night, and God led the pastor to take up an offering to go towards a car for this woman. God had blessed this woman, and with that offering she was able to buy another vehicle.

You see, God’s blessings are unmerited. There’s nothing that woman could do to earn God’s blessing. God provided for her needs because He loved her. Thus, He extended His grace, unmerited favor, to her.

2. God Can Do It

2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “God is able to make all grace abound to you”. Not only does God want to do it, He is able to do it. Whatever your need is, God can handle it. That’s because God is all-powerful.

While you might be thinking that your circumstance is too dire, there’s nothing that God can do. Jesus said this when answering His disciples when they questioned him about who can be saved. Jesus said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).

Think about it for a moment. When Moses and the Israelites were trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, God parted the Red Sea(Exodus 14). The Israelites were able to escape on dry ground.

That’s just one story of blessings from God. Over and over, the Bible tells stories of God doing the miraculous on behalf of His people. Even more, He’s still moving on behalf of His people. Remember, James 1:17 promises us that there is no changing with God. He did it then, He will do it now.

God speaks and things happen. Genesis 1 tells us how God created the universe just by saying “Let there be.” If God can speak the universe into existence, He is able to speak to your circumstance, and provide for you. Therefore, blessings from God still exist. He is still acting on behalf of His people.

3. God Blesses Abundantly

2 Corinthians 9:8 uses the word “abound” twice. This is not a coincidence. It’s included twice for emphasis.

Now, abound means to exist “in large numbers”. Here, it refers to the abundance of God’s grace. God’s grace has no end because God has no end. God’s grace is part of His nature.

Therefore, there’s no end to God’s grace. He extends it without limit, and it’s all-sufficient. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, God told Paul, “My grace is sufficient, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” This means that God is able to do what you can’t.

He heals the sick. He delivers the addict. He provides food for the starving.

Moreover, He can do it all at the same time. Since God’s grace flows abundantly, so do blessings from God. God can answer your prayers and mine at the same time.

Isn’t that awesome? I can only do one thing at a time successfully. In contrast, God is currently moving in the lives of people all over the world.

Now, that’s an abundance of grace.

That means no problem is too big for God. 2 Corinthians 9:8 says that God provides “in all things, at all times.”

4. God’s Blessings Provide for All Your Needs

Not only does God’s blessings provide “in all things, at all times”, but you will “have all that you need.” I know that you may be tempted to think that your need is insignificant, and you don’t want to bother God with it. The truth is that nothing in your life is insignificant to God.

Jesus said that God even knows the exact numbers of hairs on your head (Luke 12:7). God created you and loves you. He cares about everything in your life. More importantly, He wants you to turn to Him in everything.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Just like 2 Corinthians 9:8, Proverbs 3:5 uses the word “all”. You are to trust God with all your heart.

That means in every circumstance. Give every situation over to God. 1 Peter 5:7 says to “cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you.” That means everything, even when you can’t find your car keys.

Just like there’s nothing too big for God, there’s nothing insignificant, also.

Also, did you notice that 2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “all that you need” and not all that you want? There’s a huge difference between what you need and what you want. God will always provide what you need. What you want is subject to His will. You should align what you want with what God wants for you.

5. God’s Blessings Are Meant for You to Use to Help Others

Finally, 2 Corinthians 9:8 says that God’s grace abounds to you so that you “will abound in every good work.” When God blesses you, it’s meant to be a testimony of God’s grace. You’re to do something with it.God created you to glorify Him. If you are not actively sharing the love of God with others, you’re not fulfilling your purpose. God has commanded you to make disciples (Matthew 28:19).

One way that you can share Jesus with others is by telling them about blessings from God. When God moves on your behalf, it’s a sign to those around you that God is real. Your response is to give glory to God for it.

Also, when God provides for you financially, you can give glory to God by giving to help others. God blesses you so that you can be a blessing to others.Whatever way God chooses to bless you, you need to thank Him and use the blessing as a means to point others back to God. That’s what 2 Corinthians 9:8 means by “every good work”.

By the way, did you notice that it says, “that you may abound in every good work.” Again, here we see abundance and all, but this time it refers to you. God gives abundantly in all things to you, so that you can give abundantly in all things to others. Whatever God gives to you, give it to others.Final Thoughts on Blessings from GodAs you can see, blessings from God aren’t something you’re due. They’re gifts out of the abundance of God’s loving kindness. God moves on your behalf because He wants to because of His love for you. Plus, He wants you to use these blessings to glorify Him by helping others.
